My entry for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam

SerioDiz (Seriously Dizzy) is a simple roguelike in which you must defeat the very serious Orc Boss on wave 8, to free the dungeon from his serious reign. The only problem is you are not the best fighter and don't know any fighting tactics, so in panic, you resort to the one thing you do best: spinning in circles hoping to kill everyone. Just be careful, your stomach is not as strong as you think, and you might get dizzy.

How To Play:

  • Use "WASD" or arrow keys to move
  • Hold "SPACE" to use your spin attack
  • Watch out for the dizziness bar! If you become fully dizzy, your movement controls get inverted, you can't spin anymore, and you walk a little slower to recover
  • Press "P" to pause the game
  • And lastly, use mouse for clicking buttons, obviously

Balancing Note:

This entire project was made in 1 week so I know the balancing is nowhere near perfect. When I chose the project idea (almost instantly after it popped into my head, without second thought) I only took into consideration that 1 week is enough time to get the basic game loop done, as well as add a little variety of heroes, items and enemies, by simply tweaking some stats, but since this was my first time building a roguelike, I did not realize that the hardest part of making one is actually the difficulty and item balancing.

I really hope the current state of the game is at least a little enjoyable for everyone! After working on the project quite a lot this week, I am a little burnt out and will probably take an indefinite break before revisiting the project and adjusting more stuff (besides game breaking bugs, I will try to fix those asap).
